I have always enjoyed working with children and initially thought I would become an elementary teacher, but when it came time to give up my science classes for teaching, I just could not do it. I continued through college pursuing my cell molecular biology degree which was pre-med at my college. Medical school was the natural next step. A job that has medicine and kids, a pediatrician was an obvious choice for me!

I live in Blacksburg with my husband Sean, who is an athletic trainer for the Virginia Tech Wrestling Team. We have a five-year-old son William and two dogs, Ella and Notch. We are blessed to have my parents and sister close, so we enjoy getting together often.

A couple things that may surprise people about me is... I was a pole vaulter in high school, and I have been cage diving with a great white shark!
